Christian Yelich came into the 2021 season with a lot to prove. Yelich was well on his way to an MVP award in 2019 before fouling a ball of his knee which broke his kneecap and since that point in time, he has really struggled. The 2020 season felt like a lost season for him as he slashed .205/.356/.430 and very clearly did not look like himself.

Yelich has dealt with back issues in the past as he had to pull out of the 2019 Home Run Derby with a back ailment, so hopefully this isn’t indicative of a long term problem for him, but his recent history does make one wonder. On top of that, that the Brewers felt the need to make a roster move and put him on the IL could indicate thMookie Betts at his absence could be more than a few more games.
